Hawaii

Wow did you see the pictures this morning of Japan from the 8.9 quake in Japan. I feel so sorry for those people. I went to Tokyo many years on business and the people were so very nice and friendly. My husband was just there on business in January so I am thankful he isn't over there now.

Hubby has a business trip to Hawaii in a few weeks and just last night (due to many frequent flier miles) we were able to book flights to go with him. I have always dreamed of going there one day but figured it would never happen due to the cost. Strange to wake up this morning and hear that they are under a Tsunami warning. A lady I used to work for lives there now so sure hope everything will be ok.

This is the little charity quilt top I had been working on this week. I thought the strips of all the different donated state flower fabrics would make a nice strippy top. I really don't like how it turned out but hopefully with quilting and a colorful binding it will be better.

For now this will just go with the other charity tops that need backings made.

Today I need to catch up on a couple of errands I put off due to all the rain we had yesterday. Hope to get to the quilt room this afternoon and load something on the frame and maybe also work on a backing I am piecing.

I think it looks pretty. If you really didn't want to leave it like it is you could always cut it vertically into 5 peices and flip every other strip over. Or create a tube of fabric and unstitch a different seam in each tube, kind of bargello style. I usually don't change a top once it's together. Kind of the "it's done syndrome" I guess. Of course I don't make heirloom quilts either

I think that the quilting and binding will be enough to change your thoughts. Not every quilt has to be spectacular, but they do need to feel warm and cozy and loved.

Kathie I don't think it looks that bad. I am just wierd and have never liked a lot of white in my quilts. I know weird. But had you maybe made those strips thinner?? or not white ones? lol. Like quilting my way said it just needs to feel warm and cozy

Have you any of the neon green thread? With all the colors and your white the neon green thread would look good. Maybe a big daisy blossom pattern would jazz it all up! Mother Nature has been hard all over the globe this past year and the start of this one too. Let's hope things calm down for everyone real soon.
