Its Wednesday

I still seem to be confused about what day it is this week but I guess thats ok.

I did manage to get a small customer quilt quilted today.

I will be so glad when I get some shelves and my peg board up in the basement. Right now every time I go to do something I have to move things to create a space to cut, iron or whatever and I am constantly shifting things.

I am making a lot of 1/2 square triangles for a Christmas quilt. I am not sure how I will put them together yet but here are a couple of the layouts I was playing with for a few minutes today. Think I will just make 120 of them (to set 10 x 12) and then figure out what I am going to do.

Totally Tuesday

Since my husband had to work all day sunday I am having a hard time remembering that it is only tuesday today.

I quilted a small customer quilt yesterday but don't want to post a picture of any part of it because she made it for an upcoming guild challenge.

I also realized that it is PRACTICALLY JULY. I have completely lost the past month with the move. All my fall craft shows will be here before I know it and I have to get into high gear to make sure I have enough items.

I did spend a little time piecing a backing last night for a Christmas lap quilt I made a couple of months ago. At least it was working on a craft show item and using up some stash at the same time.

Design Wall Monday 6-28-2010

I must admit it isn't much but I at least have something on the design wall.

A friend of mine is going to be taking over the block of the month effort at our monthly guild meetings. She is starting off with a simple patriotic 9 patch as her block for July.

When I unpacked my red/white and blue fabrics I thought I would go ahead and get a couple made in advance. I am keeping them on my board to remind myself to make a couple more.

Sunday Stash Report 06 27 2010

I'm back!

All moved in and the sewing room set up enough that I can sew anyway. I only made two large 9 patch blocks this week but at least I was able to sew something and use up a slight amount of stash.

Fabric used this week: 1/4 yard
Fabric used YTD: 130.75
Fabric purchased this week: 0
Fabric purchased YTD: 78.75

Net Fabric Used YTD: 52 yards

Thought I would toss in a few pictures of my sewing room, don't you LOVE the color, yuck. That is going to have to change but it is way down on the priority list. The thread racks went up yesterday but still need to get the peg board on the wall and finish putting things away but at least it is finally usable.

I also put a charity quilt on the frame yesterday to check out and make sure the longarm was in working order after the move. It was so great to be quilting again!!!

Moved

Well we are moved in the new house. What a lot of work and it sure doesn't help that we are having weather in the 90's and humid, saps what energy have.

I did a little work in the sewing room last night getting my Janome in the cabinet and hooked up and one box of fabric (one of many) unloaded onto shelves.

I can't do much more down there until the long arm frame gets put together and then the other cabinets can be placed and I can continue unpacking. Frustrating not being able to sew but have been to tired to anyway and it will have to take low priority for awhile as the rest of the house is put together.

I will try and take pictures of various rooms as they are finished.

Sunday Stash Report on a Monday!!!

We spent most of saturday and sunday taking things over to the new house and doing some minor repairs and unpacked a few boxes. Needless to say I have not done any sewing all week but I did discover that I had used some fabric for a backing the previous week and never reported it so here are my current numbers.

Fabric Used this week: 3.5 yards
Fabric Used YTD: 130.5
Fabric Purchased this week: 0
Fabric Purchased YTD: 78.75
Net Used in 2010: 51.75

My personal goal is to have a net used of at least 100 yards by the end of the year. Do you think I will make it?

Settlement Day

This morning is the walk through on our new house with settlement this afternoon. I am excited because it is a really nice house but also very nervous when you are talking big money like buying a house.

I did manage to get the last customer quilt I had on hand quilted this week and now just taking peoples names down until we get moved and settled as I really don't want to move someone elses quilts.

I am sure I won't be blogging much for a couple of weeks but will try and surface above boxes once in awhile.

Design Wall Monday - June 7th 2010

Well my design wall is exactly the same as it has been the last few days. I tacked this quilt up there after I quilted it to take a picture of it and to also remind myself to get a binding on it.

I did sew the binding together this morning so hopefully I will get it on the quilt this afternoon.

I am working this morning on the last customer quilt I promised before our move. It is a nice break in my routine of the last couple of weeks of moving and packing.

Have I said how much I hate to move? Probably a lot to do with why we have been here 13 years!!!

Fabric Stores

Well I guess have finally found something that keeps me out of fabric stores. With all the packing, cleaning and organizing involved in an upcoming move I don't have the time or energy to do any piecing so I am staying out of fabric stores also.

I did manage to get a small customer baby quilt quilted last night. I have only one other one promised for delivery before our move so hope to get that on the frame this weekend.

I need to sit down one of these days and figure out a tentative floor plan for the new quilting room. It will be huge, roughly 16 x 41 feet. I will have my long arm area, my sewing area, my husbands sewing area (he does some upholstery and things like that) and an area with a TV and a couple of easy chairs to just sit and relax. Since it will be in the basement and I don't like to do stairs to many times a day I am going to make it comfortable enough that I can go down there and spend half the day and then go back upstairs when done.

Going to be another HOT day here, stay cool.

A Finish

Well maybe not a finish but the quilting is finished and its off the frame and trimmed up anyway. Back in one of our winter snow storms I made a quilt like this and titled it Patriotic Flurries because of the snow. I had cut way to much patriotic fabric squares so recently used up the rest of them making this quilt. I will put this quilt aside for the fall craft shows.

Currently have a customer baby quilt partially loaded on the frame. I intend on getting that quilted up today but you know how that goes ...............

The moving company we are using gave us tons of free used boxes to use since we are packing ourselves, how cool is that? I hope their moving of all of our things goes well and keeping my fingers crossed on that but so far they have been great to deal with.

On the Frame

Even with all that is going on with the upcoming move I got this patriotic quilt on the frame and got it about half quilted yesterday. Will finish that up today as I want to do two more customer quilts I have in the next week so that I can get them back before we move.

I am continuing with all the things that need to be taken care of before a move. Yesterday the insurance company and go today to pay for the new policy and probably go ahead and call the electric company and get that taken care of.

I am also packing a couple of boxes a day but need to pick up the pace on that.

It is going to be HOT here today, everyone stay cool.

New House

This is a picture of the house that we are purchasing. It is going to be a quick closing with a move about a week after closing so we are going crazy doing things in our current house to be able to get it on the market not to long after we move.

I also started packing the first couple of boxes yesterday, boy that is going to be a long process.

I did take a break from cleaning and packing and all the other stuff and got a small customer quilt quilted and then the backing I was working on finished and loaded on the frame. I am going to try and get a craft show quilt loaded on the frame this afternoon.

I think for awhile my quilting time will be at night instead of watching TV. I am going to keep my frame up until a couple of days before we move so will see how much I can get done between now and then.
