Design Wall Monday - February 28, 2011

Boy February slipped away, can't believe that tomorrow is March 1st.

At least my design wall has something on it this week. I like this first block, this is the March block of the month for our guild (and I am done early!!!). I hope I win these as the colors would look great in my family room.

Since I still had to take it easy with my hand yesterday I spent some time making additional twin sister blocks for this scrappy Christmas quilt. All the rectangles were already cut and partially sewn together.

I have a few more to make but trying to decide on a setting. I don't know straight set with sashing or on point like here with black setting triangles or exactly what I am going to do with them yet. I might just finish the rest of the blocks and set it aside to "age" for awhile.

I am going to try and get back to machine quilting today. I have the next quilt on the frame which is a beautiful pink and red heart quilt, very pretty.

The sun is shining here but have heard that is not going to last, rain and thunderstorms due this afternoon so guess I will go run any errands this morning when shops/bank opens up.

Pretty blocks. I really have to let some projects age before I can finish them, too. I have been quilting and it has been good to let my mind be free for inspiration on my UFO's. Have fun in the sun before it leaves you!!

Nifty block. Maybe you should make a few extra blocks so you have a better chance of winning all of them!

The block is pretty in the warm fabrics. Looks like a block from a Cozy Quilt design. Did the coordinator share that info? 1st wild thing that came to mind for a setting on your scrappy Christmas project. Do you have any 1/2 wide red/white stripe fabric? I think no sashing, set on point with the red/white stripe moving out to the ends of the quilt (sides would be horizontal). Take it easy with your thumb! No relapses!

Is the brown block 12"? I think it is a wonderful pinwheel block. How wide did you cut your Christmas fabrics? I'm planning on using up my Christmas fabrics and that one looks easy and cute.

The brown block looks a lot like a quilt from Kim Brackett's book. Very nice!

Aging is sometimes the best thing for a quilt idea :)
