Frog Quilt

Recently a lady at work purchased some frog fabric on ebay and wanted me to make her a baby quilt. I purchased the white fabric with dots of purple on it to go with her fabrics and made this quilt. The backing was all pieced 10 1/2 squares of fabrics from the front.

Heart Quilt

Here is a picture of the completed heart quilt. The hearts were all out of fabric from stash, the background fabric was a perfect find, black fabric with little hearts in all the bright colors I was going to use.

March Reflectioons

Even with being away from the house for a few days I managed to accomplish a lot during March.
- quilted and bound brownie quilt for charity (UFO #3) and turned it in at the March guild meeting.
- quilted, bound and put hanging sleeve on my heart quilt so it is ready for the April local quilt show.
- finished quilting/binding baby bunny star quilt and made a second quilt top out of the left over fabrics.
- finished Dresden Plate lap quilt (UFO #4) that has been in UFO status for 3 or 4 years.
- pieced backing (about 60 x70) for a r/w/b charity quilt and then got the quilting completed. Quilt will be turned in to the guild at the April meeting.

Some of my goals for April are:
- finish making the UFO rail fence blocks into a quilt top
- piece a backing for the rail fence quilt
- quilt several table runners
- quilt customer quilt (coming from Montana)
- practice quilting techniques from The Pajama Quilter Reloaded DVD

Hope to get some pictures of my latest accomplishments posted in the next few days.

Stashbusting and Completions

Purchased a new computer and it doesn't have all the photo software loaded yet so have been unable to post any new pictures. I did finish the frog baby quilt and delivered it to the lady at work and she was thrilled with it. I also finally completed the binding on my heart quilt. Now all I need to do is put a hanging sleeve on the back and it will be ready for our local quilt show next month.

Spent a couple days away from home over my daughter's recent spring break from school. I visited two quilt shops (of course) and managed to stay on track. I went with a list of 4 items I was hoping to find. I found 3 of them and did not purchase any additional fabric. I got the fun of checking out all the new fabric lines, doing some shopping and not adding any additional fabrics "just because".

I currently don't have any customer quilts to work on so am taking the opportunity to quilt a red/white/blue charity quilt for the quilt guild and after that I hope to get an old UFO on the frame and finished up. The UFO challenge we are having in the quilt guild is motivating me to get some of those UFOs totally done.

I still have not purchased any yardage for quilt backings in 2008. I am using up some of the yardage I had previously purchased plus piecing a lot of my backings with 10 1/2 squares. I am actually finally seeing a slight reduction in some of my stacks of fabric. Stashbusting can be fun!!!

March Goals

Doing well with my March goals. My old UFO quilt was quilted, bound and turned into quilt guild last monday. Last weekend I quilt my heart quilt and I made the binding this week, though it is not sewn on yet. I also quilted and bound my bunny quilt and am well on my way making the frog baby quilt.

Hopefully I will get time to quilt a charity quilt and also work on another UFO before the end of the month.

Frog Quilt

A lady at work purchased some frog fabric on Ebay and brought it in for me to make a baby quilt for her. Very busy fabric so I am going to keep is simple. Maybe a 4 patch with alternating frog fabrics with the stripe as the border. Will have to see if it "talks to me" tomorrow as I wanted to get started on it.

I did have some time this afternoon in my quilting room and finished quilting the bunny star quilt and got that off the frame so need to make binding for that this weekend.

Between these projects I want to try and get a backing put together for my black/hand dyed star quilt so that I can get that on the frame in the next few days also.

UFO #3 Finished

Finished my 3rd UFO of 2008 and it was also one of my oldest UFOs. About 6 years ago when my daughter was in 2nd grade she was in brownies. For one of their badges I helped them create quilt blocks using fabric markers. I then put the top together and the intention was to donate the quilt to charity from the girls. Needless to say it was folded up, put on my UFO shelf and gradually got lost under numerous other projects.

My quilt guild is having a UFO challenge this year and as part of documenting all those UFOs the quilt was again found. I finished quilting it over the weekend and took the last stitch in the binding last night. The quilt will finally be dropped off with my guild next monday night as a charity donation. Just six years late.
